Obama Care

With all that is going on with health care, Obama pushing socialism, and our economy I wanted to tell you to make sure you watch your dental benefits. More and more of my patients are at work and they come to me with the "dog and pony" show of options available for your choice on health care and dental care. They present you these plans and try to get you to go in a HMO because it will save you money out of your check. It won't and will cost you more in the long run, and you will not get the quality that you Expect. Thats right the quality. As it relates to dentistry the insurance companies are sending me fee schedules for dental work and want me to sign up because some of my patients are signing up for the plan. I looked at the fee schedule and found out by the time I pay the lab bill and office over head I am working for free and they want me to use less quality. Don't fall for it. When your employer comes to you, stay with the PPO and make sure you can pick your dentist. It is worth it to get that plan. I am watching health care carefully, because it could trickle down to dentistry in the future. You should all call your Congressman's and voice your displeasure over the single payer system the President wants to push through the system. You do not want your health care taken away that you been paying in for.

Back to school

Just a quick note today as a reminder to all you parents out there that school is going to be starting soon and you need to get you children in before school starts for there dental check ups. If you have kids that are 3 years old or older then now is the time to call your favorite dentist and schedule your children for there exam, xrays, and there prophylaxis. This prevention is good, because we do not want your child missing school with a tooth ache because a baby tooth is coming out or a cavity. At this visit we will do a prophylaxis and a fluoride treatment to get your children ready for school and to make sure they are healthy and with no need to prevent them from school. I have my youngsters appointed and ready before school starts. I also make sure all my children patients have a toothbrush and small toothpaste with them for their locker so they can brush at school after lunch.
