Which type of Orthodontics is Right for me? Invisalign?

As an Orlando dentist I receive many calls about straight teeth. I am asked about getting there teeth straight, and can they use the new tray technique. The technique they are talking about is "Invisalign". This technique takes impressions of your teeth and then a computer guided mouth trays are made for you that gradually moves your teeth over time. The computer that makes the trays makes about 20 of them that you change every two to three weeks depending on how the dentist thinks they look. This technique in my opinion is good for people who need minor tooth movements. The harder cases should use conventional Orthodontics. It is nice you can take them out to brush and when you eat, but we have found patients compliance is down. They do not where them as long as they should everyday. The cost for this treatment is just about the same as conventional orthodontics so I usually always recommend conventional orthodontics to my patients. I want them to get the best result possible. I think this is accomplished with brackets and wires. I have had some of my patients have Invisalign done and liked it, but they had the same reservations I told you about. When you pay 5 thousand dollars to have straight teeth, it is my preference to use conventional Orthodontics. Invisalign is good for real easy cases.
